Greetings. Sometimes a door closes as another opens. And sometimes they're the same door, opening and closing as it revolves in spacetime. We wish to take this occasion to recognize Stephen Hawking's recent passing, on Einstein's birthday. Spring Broke In its just-out 2018 schedule, we see the Beaverton Flea organizers have chosen to move their event forward a week, to recur on the same "Last Sundays" as PDX Flea+Food (where we'll be this 25th). We regret losing those "First Sunday" chances to show you our latest assortment of wares, but sometimes that’s just how the cookie crumbles. Hippity-hippity On the flip side, ReClaim It! management has generously carved out an entire case for us. So whether your March includes hosting holiday entertainment, home-and-garden renovation, or outfitting your bunker for the zombie apocalypse, be sure to stop by. Elsewhere in the store you’ll find our overhauled denim aprons, and—for a limited time—an assortment of play tea sets artfully paired with delicate gift baskets by 'The Tea Set Lady'. Special thanks to Alex for the tremendous support! Lastly… As always you can find us on the WWW and social networks. Thanks for reading. Now get to work. Greetings. Amid many external uncertainties, it has been a year of tremendous growth here at the Department. From reworking our identity to refining our offerings, we continue on our mission to recirculate wholesome goods that endure. Nevertheless, we imagine you feel like joining us in saying, “Goodbye, 2017! Don’t let the door hit you.” Happy Renew Year! “Where are you located?” That’s been frequently asked at our traveling tent show, and (vintage notwithstanding) we’ve always had to answer that we don’t have a brick and mortar store. So we’re delighted to announce our refurbished cast iron cookware and retooled work aprons have found a home at ReClaim It! “A place where the creative citizens of Portland can find unique materials to reuse, repair, and reimagine.” We’re excited to be in the company of others whose values are so like our own. So come in, try on a few aprons from an expanded selection, and spark your reimagination 10–5 Wednesday to Sunday, at 1 N Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97217 Iron Wishes Fulfilled Last month we received this note from Ryan Davison: “A few weeks ago we bought a small pan from you at the Flea Market on the east side and my dad loves it. For Xmas we’d like to get him a very good 12" pan. Will you be at the Flea Market again between now and Xmas?” We’re happy to report we caught up with Ryan the following weekend at PDXFlea, and his dad will loving a 12" skillet soon. Thanks, Ryan! Happy Cooking, Ryan’s Dad! Is there a piece of iron cookware you need or desire? We see many, so let us know and we might be able to procure it and cure it for you. Fire Sale At that same market a customer bought from us two pans for his mother in Southern California because her set was destroyed in the terrible wildfires there. We’re touched that he was able to replace her beloved WagnerWare, and hopeful those destructive blazes will be arrested soon. Your Degunkification Station Remember, if you love iron cookware that you already have—but its surface needs to be restored—our Iron Reclamation Division can clean and season it, so you can retire your poison Teflon.
